Biography

Megan Lane grew up on a small farm in Collingwood Ontario, where her lifelong passion with horses began. A local veterinarian recognized her enthusiasm for riding, and gave her a little black pony named ‘Crazy Bull’, and she never looked back.

Megan started competing in the hunter shows but her focus quickly shifted to dressage. Megan competed at the provincial level, and then made the Junior and Young Rider national teams for 4 consecutive years and qualified 5 different horses. She had numerous successes at the North American Junior and Young Rider Championships, including six podium finishes.

During her time as a Junior rider, Megan came across a mare at a hunter/jumper sales barn. The unlikely pair quickly formed an incredible partnership that was the foundation for the following years of competition on national teams as the pair climbed the levels from Juniors, to Young Riders, and finally to Grand Prix. Among their highlights, Megan and Caravella were selected for Team Canada to compete at the 2014 World Equestrian Games in Normandy, France and the 2015 Pan American Games in Toronto.

Megan’s unrelenting passion continues to fuel her future goals to compete for Canada on the international stage. Megan is currently based out of the world class Deer Ridge Equestrian in Loretto, Ontario where she is developing Deer Ridge’s talented string of up and coming international horses.
